Why didn't I go to my primary care doctor? Well, I tried. I visited my primary care doctor for my annual visit the first week in October. I weighed in at an all-time high. She didn't want to even discuss GLP-1s. When I brought it up, she actually said "Why don't you just focus on putting less in your mouth?" ... I decided that was enough of that, it was time to take control. After researching my options over the next week or so, I joined Mochi and scheduled a consultation for late October.
The Mochi doctor was very straightforward. He said I was a good candidate because I had more than 50 pounds to lose and I have a family history of type 2 diabetes plus my history of gestational diabetes. I shared my bloodwork numbers from my primary care visit since I happened to have it. He talked to me about nutrition, outlined the differences in the medications and helped me pick one, told me what to expect both from the medication and the Mochi fulfillment process. He advised I try to lose weight nice and steady, 1-2 pounds per week (spoiler alert: I nailed it). He helped me set a weight loss goal based on my history. It was great, very positive.
I chose semaglutide because it was more affordable. He put in the prescription the next day, I authorized payment, and I had it within a week. Every time I've put in for a refill, I get the meds within a week (Aequita pharmacy). Only complaint with Aequita is the blue cap on the vial is hard to remove and sometimes wants to tear away the aluminum ring.
I've never needed to reach out to customer service, so I can't report on that. The app isn't great, I just use the website but even the weight tracking on the website is a little wonky (if I say I injected on a certain date, it automatically assigns the dosage as my last refill dosage, but I refill early so it's perpetually tracking the wrong dosage). I keep my own spreadsheet on Google Sheets with all the details I want to track.
